Playground Recycled Rubber Bark Chippings

Our Playground Recycled Rubber Bark Chippings are created by shredding selected tyres to mimic the look of traditional stone chippings. These rubber chippings are designed to provide a soft and springy surface that helps cushion falls, making them ideal for use in children’s play areas, commercial park equipment, and other recreational spaces.

Made from 100% recycled rubber products, the chippings are carefully cleaned, shredded, and free of tyre wire. They are then coloured using water-based acrylics, creating a vibrant and durable alternative to traditional bark chippings. This environmentally friendly solution ensures a long-lasting and safe surface for playground equipment.

Compliance with Industry Standards

Our rubber chippings meet the strict requirements of BS EN 1176, the standard relating to loose fill products in public and commercial areas. To ensure safety, a greater depth of loose fill is needed in these environments, and our chippings meet this need by providing an additional 100mm of material to allow for displacement during use, as per BS EN 1177 (2008) guidelines.

Installation Instructions

• On Grass or Bare Earth: Lay a Landscape Fabric first, ensuring the edges are trimmed once weighed down by the chippings.
• Retaining Border: Use timber or create a shallow pit to hold the chippings in place.
• Depth: Apply a minimum of 5cm of rubber chippings under play equipment, with an additional 5cm per meter of equipment height. Ensure the chippings extend at least 1.5 meters away from equipment.
• Footwear: We recommend children wear suitable footwear while walking or playing on the surface.
