Exciting Playground Physical Play Transformation at King’s Meadow Primary School

King’s Meadow Primary School in Pontefract partnered with us to create an adventurous playground physical play area that would boost physical development during playtimes and lunchtimes. They sought a durable and engaging solution, and as experts in commercial playground equipment manufacture, we designed a space centered around wooden play equipment that encourages exploration and active play.

The Project

We designed and installed a robust play area using robinia timber, a high-quality hardwood from The Black Forest in Germany. Known for its exceptional durability and natural charm, robinia timber was the ideal material to bring the school’s vision to life.

Alport Scramble Stack

King’s Meadow selected our popular Alport Scramble Stack, a feature-packed piece of wooden play equipment that included:

• A raised platform with a bubble window for imaginative views and creative play.
• A traverse climbing wall to support strength and coordination development.
• Robinia log ladders and armoured ropes for climbing, swinging, and balancing activities.

To ensure safety, we installed grass mats safety flooring, which not only protects children during play but also blends beautifully with the surrounding environment.

Custom Robinia Trim Trail

We complemented the scramble stack with a bespoke robinia trim trail, tailored to the school’s needs. The trim trail included:

• A timber crawl tunnel for exciting, immersive play.
• Traverse walls and stainless-steel monkey bars for upper-body strength and agility.
• Rope net crossings, log rope crossings, and tightropes for balance and gross motor skills.
• A wobble board bridge and balance beams to encourage core strength and stability.

The Impact

This new play space is an adventurous haven for the children, providing a safe yet thrilling environment for climbing, balancing, and problem-solving. The combination of wooden play equipment and natural elements encourages imaginative and collaborative play, while also promoting physical development and risk-taking in a controlled setting.
